Why do we like this?

Capturing the soul of a post-rock track in a remix can be no easy task, especially a track as expansive as the instrumental "Love Unlimited" by the Irish band Enemies.  With its Steve Vai-esque guitar riffs making their way towards its heavy finish, the track offered plenty of sounds for Irish producer SIATS to play with on his remix.

While I couldn't find a whole lot on SIATS, what I can say about him is he's got a great ear for hearing all of the little bits and pieces in a track.  On his remix of "Love Unlimited" he expertly tears apart and reassembles the track -- taking just fractions of measures and reestablishing them as he sees fit.

Focusing around a vocal manipulation and a syncopated borrowed live drum beat, SIAT has transformed the song into a beautiful piece of minimal electronica.  He really uses the organic bits to his advantage, keeping the swells of sound that made the original so infectious and tugging at your heart just like great post-rock is supposed to.

It's kind of like a musical cyborg brought back to life care of some electronic hardware to keep the heart beating, but still with that post-rock soul.
