Why do we like this?
Gardeners hate weeds, but I find envisioning a bunch of dandelions scattered all over the place is an unconventional kind of beauty. Emmy the Great (her real name is Emma-Lee Moss, but hey, she is pretty great!) steadily builds up a peppy beat with only a handful of instruments.
Mellow guitar and feathery vocals makes it feel like it could be a quirky song from someone like Haley Heynderickx or Regina Spektor. The London-based artist uses a basic melody and creates all her own harmonies. Although the sound falls on the simple side, it’s extremely cute. What could put you in a better mood than an upbeat song about bright-colored flowers?
