Why do we like this?

Emma Louise has long been one of my favorite female voices in Australian electronic music. Her recent single "Underflow," and its subsequent Little Dragon remix was so beautiful it damn near made me cry, and "Talk Baby Talk" is a stunning follow-up.

Lyrically it's reflective storytelling, breaking down an unhappy relationship, looking at what went wrong, and what's changed. Musically, it's deeper, heavier and sexier than her previous tracks, as though demonstrating a kind of strength, as though this reflection was more wistful contemplation than melancholy yearning. "Talk all night, baby talk all night," she croons. "Oh, why can't we just talk about it?"

I find the track's mixing really interesting; although the instrumentation is fuller and heavier, her vocals are clear and endlessly intimate, as though she's singing just to you -- or perhaps to herself.
