I often look over earlier reviews I've written, and notice there's hardly any electronic music -- especially compared to the reviews I write now, where it's the clear genre majority. There's just so much good stuff coming out of Australia at the moment, and it's really difficult keeping up with it all! One of my favorite local acts is Sydney musician Embassy, who I've featured a few times already over the past year, including last month's release "Forgotten (Short Memory)."
Heavily influenced by hip-hop and jazz, Embassy is at it again with his latest release "I Never Get a Morning Anymore." Taking the stems of a track from Melbourne artist Friendships (a mentor of sorts for Embassy), he's carefully crafted a deep, haunting electronic hip-hop track. Embassy is a multi-instrumentalist, and one of the best parts of his music is the heavy live bass influence, and this is highlighted throughout. This musicianship is also clear with the way Embassy structures things, mainly the multiple ups and downs featured on the track.
Embassy will be releasing more music later this year, and you can be sure you'll be able to keep up with his news right here.
