Elvis Brown is not someone I'm overly familiar with but I'm really loving his latest "Icington." Taking his name from hometown heroes James Brown and Elvis Presley, Brown has been a key figure behind the scenes for the likes of Ashanti and star of the moment Post Malone. Finally going out on his own, Brown has been building a steady following with a string of SoundCloud uploads, with "Icington" being his best yet.
Similar in vein to the majority of trap rap doing the rounds these days, what strikes me about this one is Brown and fellow rapper Troop Brand's flow. Both have great cadence, and together with James Rise's southern beats, turning "Icington" from an ok track to a great track.
The visually stunning film clip for "Icington," featuring Brown and Troop vibing in the middle of nowhere, is definitely worth a look too.
