Why do we like this?

Hot off the press, Elsy Wameyo is a Nairobi-born artist with ties to the Nilotic tribes in Kenya. Now based in Australia, at 23 years old, she has released an EP, Nilotic, featuring songs that are all self-produced and very indicative of her culture and identity.

Her verses on "River Nile" are steeped in historical references and reflections, like in the repeated line, "Should've invested the first time." Along with her incorporation of Swahili lyricism, she pushes the boundaries with the amazing visuals behind the music video, which she also directed herself.
