Ellinor Olovsdotter, aka Elliphant, represents the promising and flourishing talent coming out of Sweden. Elliphant's sound undeniably resembles M.I.A and Charli XCX, but still has its own identity. With that said, her music impressively sustains its own creativity in such a musically inept clusterfuck of copycats and imitators.
Her sound is dripping with Jamaican dancehall pop influences, also known as, "dankshall," which is evident in the rhythmic hip-hop inspired song "Music is Life." Elliphant is not afraid to tip-toe along the line of in-your-face lyrics. Her anarchist attitude takes a refreshing and progressive position; she's not blabbing about the overplayed sentiment of "dropping out'" of life and living against or off the grid. Her music compels you to form your own grid, a tailor-made grid, that works for you.
Elliphant is currently on tour with the dynamic duo Twin Shadows. Listen to her booming single "Music is Life" streaming above.
