If you recognise the voice on this track it's because we've featured Nabi Sue Bersche before when her band went under a different alias. Ellevator previously went by the name of The Medicine Hat, but have rebranded themselves with a new EP they are set to release later this year.
Despite the new name, Ellevator have lost none of their abilities to write great music. Single "Hounds" is the second track taken from the band's forthcoming debut EP. A subtle guitar led tune, there's a touch of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs about this one. Nabi Sue Bersche's adoring vocals are once again a highlight, with "Hounds" somewhere between a soothing lullaby and a nightmarish dream. Of the track Bersche had this to say;
Most nights I dream I’m being chased. I don’t know what this is a manifestation of, only that it started when I was a little kid, and it began as wolves or wild dogs that pursued me. Those hounds bite at my heels and keep me from stopping and asking for help. Their howls whistle through my head and deafen me to the voices of people who also need help. It’s all consuming. This song is an acknowledgement that we need each other to survive. There’s safety in numbers. We’ve seen how ‘every man for himself’ turns out, and we need to do better.
