Why do we like this?
The music of singer-songwriter Eliza Shaddad has typically been categorized as folk rock, but she’s evolving her sound with “Wars,” the first single off her upcoming full-length EP, Run.
“Wars” starts off mellow and moody, with a solitary guitar supporting Shaddad’s melancholic vocals. Drums are introduced, followed by a build up of grungy guitar chords, adding complexity and energy to the song without detracting from the underlying emotions. The song is lyrical and ethereal, yet just a little bit harsh.
We hope there is more of this on Run, which is slated to be released in early 2016.
