A few months back, I detailed my appreciation of Sydney singer/songwriter
Eleanor Dunlop's debut single "
Disguise," her first release as a solo artist after her band Cameras called it quits in early 2013. Since launching this new chapter of her musical career late last year, she's drawing closer to the release of her EP, and another single has been shared recently.
While her earlier sounds tended toward a darker strain of pop, "Rough Side of Town" is a slightly more emotional affair. The rolling keys and percussion remain, but it's as if everything's been lifted up an octave to completely shift the feel of the song. There's a hugely powerful, heart-rending feel to Dunlop's music that is easy to get swept away with; it's as if she's speaking directly to you.
Eleanor Dunlop's debut EP is due out on April 11, so prepare yourself for much more from this talented newcomer.
