Hard at work in his beat alcove in sunny San Diego, the melanin-deficient West Coast beat-maker eLan is gearing up to release
Alligator Snaps through Germany's Monkeytown records.
The electronic album is the second in a trilogy the young keyboard connoisseur will be delivering to the world via the Deutschland label. A departure from the first project,
Alligator Snaps contains no samples, employing drum machines and synthesizers for the entirety of the EP. "Alligator Snaps," the title cut from the EP, is a playfully quirky gumbo of well-placed snaps and a warbling bass-line.
Although still a new face to many, the soft-spoken Inglewood native is gathering steam with his productions. Commissioned remix work for Pollyn and other like-minded groups are keeping eLan busy while he finished the final installment of his Monkeytown record series.
eLan will be making a trek out to Germany this October to tour with his Monkeytown brethren, Siurismo and Modeselektor, for a series of shows spanning a few countries. So if you're across the pond and enamored by the gritty synth lines, generally disinterested demeanor and Bieber-ish hairstyle that eLan all has plenty of, be sure to look out for dates when they're announced.
