There are a few songs each year that find their way into my musical vocabulary as antidotes for long days, weeks, or specifically difficult situations. A pair of headphones, a dark room, and a song like Elliot Root's "I.Y.H." can do wonders for being able to fully breathe again; to release a weight that's "all inside your head."
And after dropping two EPs in 2015, Elliot Root returns this year to release their first full-length album, Conjure, on August 25. Focusing on the myriad of creative benefits, this Nashville band of four 'wanted to be 100 percent honest with ourselves,' on the new release, according to singer and guitarist, Scott Krueger.
"10,000" stays true to this mantra, soulfully jamming out with prominent piano in a stadium-rock type ballad. In the music video, the remnants of a failed flight are strewn in the middle of a forest, and a lone wanderer paddles out to find a flashback or a dream.
Elliot Root is currently on tour on the east coast ahead of their album release in August.
