I recently posted Canadian producer Eekkoo's single "Elysium," and "B.L.A.C.K" is the follow-up.
It's a more traditional progressive house track, with thumping beats, synth builds, and a whole lot more going on in between. Signed to Deadmau5's label mau5trap, it's easy to see where Eekkoo's influences lie.
Synth riffs repeat at a mesmerizing level, while octave shifts add variety and change to the main "melody," if you will. There's a great range of drops, synthy flows, and glitchy beats, creating eerie progressions and hypnotic phrases.
Deliberate sparsity is employed throughout, spacing out the layers and really making you notice the small but significant changes. It's the kind of track that doesn't need to rely on explosive breakdowns and heaving synth choruses, managing to change and progress enough times that you won't break from your techno-induced trance for a moment.
Eekkoo's new EP Hell is Other People comes out October 13.
