Why do we like this?
Sometimes the music discovery gods are in a good mood. At least this is how I feel after stumbling upon Ed Harris, a Chicago-based producer who crafts righteous instrumentals under the moniker Edamame. In his own words, Edamame's sound draws on "the great outdoors, blending it with chilled out glitch-hop."
"Plum Blossom" goes right up there with Sorrow's "My Love" as soon of my favorite electronica of the last few weeks. Edamame flexes all over this beat, but in a non-aggressive, cinematic kind of way that leaves me feeling entranced and couch-locked. It's a dreamy track, but there's enough hip-hop influence layered in to keep the ears engaged from start to finish.
Edamame has a few lazy afternoons worth of musical goodness waiting for you on his Bandcamp page. Enjoy that while we wait for Silhouette, Ed's latest EP that's set to drop later this month.
