East of Ely are a brand new Sydney-based band. The five-piece are so fresh that I've struggled to stalk down much of a back-story about them, which is usually my specialty. What I do know is that they've got three singles scheduled for release this year, with "Easy Friend" the first (currently available as a free download).
The band's first effort is pretty easy to fall for, with plenty of sparkling guitar and synth, emotive vocals, and a number of stirring choruses. Fans of anthem-driven bands like the Temper Trap and The Naked and Famous will find themselves especially enraptured.
"East Friend" marks a very positive beginning for this band, and I highly doubt I'll have trouble finding out about them next time around.
