The synth at the beginning of this jam reminds me of the synth in Grimes' hit "Genesis." In fact, it plays out like a bit slower remix to that, only with a much more Florence Welch-like vocal to it.
So there you have it. Mashup a hit Grimes song with a hit Florence + the Machine tune and you get Dyan's newest single, "Days Upon Days."
While you won't get the monster production quality that a Florence + the Machine song will have, you will get a very similar vibe in the sense that the sonic experience will make mostly anyone want to somehow stand up for themselves. It's the same sort of anthemic value you would receive from any of those artists I mentioned above. And I think that's exactly what Dyan set out to do.
They say:
“Days Upon Days” shows defiance in the face of vulnerability. There's a willingness to wait, intolerance for letting that go unnoticed, and the paradox of confrontation in the pursuit of love.
I, personally, dig it all. The tune, the explanation, and the delivery on this, so enjoy.
