With their long-awaited debut album,Hundred Fifty Roses, set for release this coming April, the Parisian producer duo, Duñe x Crayon, have dropped a sultry second single from the project entitled “Pointless.” The new song features rapper and artist, Ichon, and follows the album’s title track from last autumn. With understated yet lusciously stylish soul that we’ve come to expect from Duñe x Crayon, “Pointless” also arrives with an impactful video directed by Alice Kong.
Built on a foundation of rich harmonies, a patient beat, and laid back vocal delivery, Kong’s colorful video follows a protagonist played by Ichon who, as she describes, “is living in social isolation – lonely, and out of step with an over-connected society.” While scrolling online, he happens upon an escort service where the cost for one night with an alluring woman is one thousand roses. The visuals touch on some of the album’s themes like addiction and habit, including the added imagery of the rose, which is common on French escort websites to denote one euro. The video is a poignant addition to the track’s stirring music, offering another intriguing taste of the forthcoming album.
Duñe x Crayon’s debut album, Hundred Fifty Roses, will be released in mid-April via Roche Musique.
