Why do we like this?
Duke Dumont, I hardly recognize you. Maybe there's some extra sun shining on the UK producer's back, because his latest single "I Got U" does nothing short of ooze happiness and puppies compared to his other releases.
Balearic, tropical notes are the forefront of this release, which is a collaboration with fellow producer Jax Jones. A penetrating bass line starts early, but that does not detract from the warm, comforting piano notes that lead into steel drums, dreamy vocals, and a smattering of euphoric clapping. The elements combine at the chorus for a lovely, upbeat mix.
Although Dumont's other releases typically feature strong, whimsical vocals, this track surely takes a departure from the deep house trend he has followed in the past. Luckily for us listeners, this producer definitely has a firm grasp on both sounds and executes perfectly with "I Got U."
