A new single has been released from Matt Mondanille's newest album under the moniker Ducktails. He's taken a brief breather from his other job (playing guitar for Real Estate) to put out Ducktails' newest album, The Flower Lane.
On previous albums, he's relied more on his own output, but this album has him collaborating with a whole host of other musicians. In the track "Letter Of Intent" alone, he has the beautiful voice of Jessa Farkas and the experimental touch on the synths of Daniel Lopatin of Oneohtrix Point Never. Lopatin fits in perfectly on this song, creating a whirling atmosphere behind the main melody that is perfectly subtle. His solo later in the song reminds me of a bizarre synth riff that the great Bernie Worrell would lay down. Joel Ford is on bass, who is also known for his work with Lopatin.
If this track shows what's to come for this new Ducktails album, then I think we are in for a treat when it's released mid-January.
