Why do we like this?
Du Tonc is a collaboration between two seriously talented dudes. The funk-heavy tunes of Sydney's Matt Van Schie (of Van She fame) and London producer/DJ (and Hypem Top 10 regular) Mighty Mouse have been steadily building plenty of admirers this year, with three singles already in the bag. Having already supported the likes of Mark Ronson, Flight Facilities, Alex Metric, and Digitalism, among others, the duo is quickly becoming a buzz band for nu-disco fans around the world.

Latest single "Rise" is just 19 days old, but is already blowing up all over the place, and after one listen you'll understand why -- this is some seriously addictive stuff. Bassist Van Schie sets the tone with typically deep, throbbing riffs, but it's the interesting samples (wolf howls, saxophone, etc.) that put this above most regular indie pop tracks. Superbly produced, the robotic vocals (again, Van Schie) suit the slightly dark-pop elements of this track -- which are, in turn, contrasted by the cowbell.

The combination of these two has reaped some seriously solid returns already, and with the launch of their new label Nightfilm; expect a whole lot more from this exciting project. Pick "Rise" up for a limited time free download  on SoundCloud.
