When Minneapolis' Gabriel Jorgensen announced he was starting a new musical project this year, I was pretty excited. I love his work as solo project turned trio Ancient Mariner, under which he released a second EP two years ago this month. But when I interviewed him in 2015, he mentioned that there was almost too much talent in the band for it to stay together for long. Soon members Connor Davison and Daniel Stewart were performing as indie alt-rock duo Wingman, and Jorgensen was left with a body of work of his own - still unreleased.
Now, we wait no longer. Jorgensen has released a second single as Dreamspook, "Island Castle," with a little help from Davison on drums and local Twin Cities production talent. And with these "melancholic grooves," as he calls them, Gabe is on to something really (really) good.
