Parisian producer Dream Koala first hit the music scene a year or so ago with his soothing track titled "Treehouse" and his Boiler Room showcase with Flume. Now at the ripe age of 19, this artist is back, and this time around he's got a story to tell.
His latest gem, "Odyssey," is a conceptualized, thought-provoking track that is "inspired by a dream [he] had where [he] died in a plane cash. "Odyssey" comes from the travels of Ulysses "“ his fear of never coming back him and never reaching his ambitions. It's a track about deception and the fear of death, the fear of never accomplishing your goals."
Once you press play, you are drawn into this world of dark and mysterious horizons that are similar to that of The xx and Explosions In The Sky, taking you from a motionless stasis until the 2:30 mark when you start spiraling downward with cymbal crashes, uptempo beats, and high-pitched crooning. Once the climax is over, you are softly sung back into balance with delicate piano-playing until the song comes to a close.
