If you're looking for something to listen to after a hard day, I've got you sorted. A few days back, Melbourne-based record label Spirit Level released their first compilation in celebration of Nils Frahm's Piano Day - Kindred Spirits Volume 1 - and it's a beautiful thing.
One of the standout tracks on the record is "Late," a gorgeous piece of 'keysmanship' from Melbourne musician Donald Hugh (or Don). Slow and peaceful, the gentleness of the track lulls the listener into a feeling of comfort and warmth, and I for one cannot think of a better example of what is to be found on this compilation.
Kindred Spirits features new, piano-based music from Braille Face, Luke Howard, Evelyn Ida Morris (Pikelet), Tim Shiel, Sophie Hutchings, Telling and more, and is available on most platforms now.
