DM3 is the brainchild of Western Australia's Dom Mariani. Hailing from Fremantle, not far from Perth, Mariani developed a style that pays homage to some of the greatest power-pop acts of the past several decades.
While he may have grown up thousands of miles away, Mariani draws influence from American and British musicians like Alex Chilton and Chris Bell of Big Star, a group from Tennessee that emerged in the '70s and developed what many refer to as a "cult following." He also grew up listening to bands like The Beatles and The Raspberries, which are known for their immaculate songwriting, and vocal prowess.
DM3's sound is based around soaring, catchy melodies, driving guitars, and harmony that can be labeled as nothing less than ear candy. The track, "Up In The Air," exemplifies the band's sonic aesthetic to a 'T.' It appears on the band's debut album One Time Two Times Red Light and stands out due to its infectious melodic nature.
While DM3 is not Mariani's first band, it is arguably where he did his best work as a musician. To anyone who is curious about hearing more of what the band has to offer, their catalog includes a live album from a sublime live performance at the world-renowned Roskilde Festival in 1994.
