Due to an increase in live performances, the duo behind Dirty Nice revealed themselves in an interview with Notion in 2018. However, they have certainly maintained an elusive aura about them, often obscuring their facial features in promo shots.
The late 2021 LP, Lobster, is the band's debut full-length album and opens with the upbeat track "Paint Your Nails Blue." Fitted with slightly saccharine-sounding acoustic guitars that lay the foreground for chopped-up electric guitar and synth parts that echo the main acoustic riff. The bass adds some rhythmic moments of interest, engaging dynamics even further with frequent sliding.
The main hook of the song is "Paint your nails blue just like we used to". The line has an inherent nostalgia and whimsy to it, it feels personal yet light and is perfectly matched with pop instrumental surrounding it.
