Dilated Peoples is back. Throughout the 2000s, Evidence, Rakaa, and DJ Babu were the poster children of the screw faced, take-no-shit backpack rap that served as a foil for the glitzy high-production of the mainstream.
They were one of the last underground groups to be on a major label and have a proper resources behind their music. There is an entire generation of heads who grew up on DP.
Directors of Photography, the group's fifth album in almost fifteen years, will be released this August on the independent powerhouse Rhymesayers Entertainment.
The first single, "Good As Gone," is produced by DJ Premier and sounds straight out of 1999. Rakaa and Ev address the notion that the crew was a wrap in their typical tag-team style, proving the stalwarts never lost a step. Bust out the Conart shirts and Jansports this summer.
