Fans of Different Sleep, aka producer Rafa Alvarez, may recognize this track from a mix he released earlier this year. This track has been a bit of a mystery ever since, and finally he's released it outright. Lots of his fans have been waiting for it.
What stands out in "So Afraid 2 Cry" is the chopping up of Rihanna's vocals. Also take note of its understated beats and the slow build to a long fade-out to black.
Of the track Rafa tells Indie Shuffle:
"I've been holding onto this one for a little while. I made it when I was living in Chicago and was really inspired by the footwork sound. I've always thought the original song is one of the most underrated songs off of Rihanna's last album so I wanted to put my own spin on it."
For the record, the sample comes from the Rihanna track "Get It Over With." We can expect more from new stuff from Different Sleep as he works a new album release next year.
