Why do we like this?
After announcing themselves with the delightfully carefree single "Your House" at the back end of 2015, Diet are back with a second slice of delightful pop-rock. With a debut EP on the way, the Melbourne band now deliver "The Rip," which solidifies them as an act to pay attention to.
The new single sees a much sharper approach from the five-piece, with plenty packed into the track's 2 minutes. Diet set a frantic pace from the start, with vocalist Ben O'Loughlin's crooning vocals running riot over the top of animated guitar riffs and punchy percussion.
While "The Rip" is over quickly, it's a great nod to the brief surf-rock format, and if anything just leaves me wanting to hear more from the band.
