Why do we like this?
There have been a spate of mellow disco remixes coming out as of late, including those from the likes of Alle Farben (Daughter's "Youth") and Kulkid. The common thread tying most of them together is a consistent and rich drum thump providing the background to otherwise mellow folk tunes.
Devendra Banhart naturally presents a good target for such a remix, and his recent single "Mi Negrita" was recently tackled by London-based Daniele Di Martino. Homeboy has had a number of successful remixes in the past (this one of Emiliana Torrini is a new favorite of mine), so it comes as little surprise his take on Devendra is inoffensive and easy on the ears.
