Why do we like this?

My buddy Matt mentioned Dermot Kennedy in passing during a recent phone call when the conversation turned to artists we're digging right now. I quickly liked "Glory" on SoundCloud as a reference point for the day when I would slow down, and actually explore the dude's catalog.

What is this music? Is it pop? Is it electronica? Is this what happens when Professor Utonium mixes U2 with Imagine Dragons with Chemical X? "Glory" is not the only enjoyable tune on Kennedy's Doves & Ravens EP. It my personal favorite, though.
