I have been a fan of NY-based electronic duo denitia and sene for a few years now. Their brand of downtempo, atmospheric electro-soul is one that many artists are attempting, but they have done naturally and consistently since their first foray into the world as a duo.
The pair have just released their sophomore album, love and noir. The 12 track album is one that has been on repeat in my headphones for the week it has been out, and I still haven't gotten enough of it.
The interplay between the male and female vocals in this particular track, the doubled, pitched vocal at the end of each phrase, the spacious hip-hop influenced production and downtempo nature of the entire track take the listener to a warm, but lonely place.
Possibly one of my favorite albums of 2016 - and yes, that's still taking into account the fact that Solange, Frank Ocean and Bon Iver released albums this year. You can stream the entire album on Spotify.
