Why do we like this?
I'm about to move to the UK to find religion, because these soulful singers are rising up across the pond. I'm beginning to understand how my foreign friends brave the stifling weather; honest music will always be enough to keep you both warm and connected.

Perhaps it's strange to compare Denai Moore to James Blake, but he immediately came to mind. "Gone" possesses a similar sense of patience and presence. As Moore sings, "Your autumn leaves scattered like sores/But it scarred from the molten sun/You're the one I think of when I wake/Until the morning starts and the evening breaks/And I found you in all my fears/And I found you beneath my tears/And I found you had gone," she manages to make the most unforgiving lyrics sound too beautiful to resist. Few singers can make sadness feel like a blessing.

This single comes from Denai's debut four-track EP Saudade and is available for pre-order now on iTunes. You can also check out the track, "Flaws," on SoundCloud, which offers an acoustic folk feel, but plays second-string to the power of "Gone."
