The band fronted by Zooey Deschanel's man Ben Gibbard is prepping to release a new album Codes and Keys, and yesterday we got a glimpse of what's to come with "You Are A Tourist" [streaming on the band's website].
The album will be the group's seventh studio album, set to be released at the end of May. Ben and Nick Harmer (bass player) have both stated that this album is "a much less guitar-centric album" than the band has produced before. Given that I wasn't a huge fan of their last few attempts, I'm actually pretty excited by the potential influence that new-music trends may have on the band. Will this album see an evolution of their sound? I sure hope so -- and "You Are A Tourist" definitely hints at a slightly new sound, albeit very familiar.
We'll keep you posted on more -- you can be sure we'll have a full album review up on Indie Shuffle in the future!
