Why do we like this?
I'm a blissful believer that everything Tycho's Scott Hansen touches turns to shimmery gold. That goes for the already soft, malleable sounds produced by Death Cab for Cutie.
"The Ghosts Of Beverly Drive" lives on DC4C's new album Kintsugi. The track is perfectly fine on its own, but here we have Tycho's gorgeous, ombre synths swirling under Ben Gibbard's gentle confessions. It's quick in the right spots. It'll touch the most tender sections of your heart.
If lyrics can cling to Tycho's beautiful arrangements, they must be as introspective as these.
You wanna teach but not be taught,
and I wanna sell but not be bought. So let us not be lonesome,
so let us not be lonesome.Lost in between our needs and wants,
our needs and wants.
Enjoy, friends.
