Tracks on Deadmau5's 2010 release 4x4=12 are long, dancey and often mind-blowing. Today's Song of the Day however, a brand new track from one of this year's most successful artists, takes Joel Thomas Zimmerman in a direction a la Katy Perry, Robyn and/or Sissy Wish. The root of this change is Neon Hitch, who has in the past provided backing vocals for Ke$ha and been featured in a Benny Blanco remix of Miike Snow's "Burial." Together, these artists create an interesting sound on "I Can't Behave Myself."
This isn't the first foray by Deadmau5 into the world of female vocalists (as evidenced by today's Bonus track featuring Gretta Svabo Bech) -- it is, however, a bit of a change-up when one reflects on his work this year. Do I like it? Mostly. But I don't think it beats the second song on this post, which wins most every listener over with a sick dubstep drop about 5 minutes into the track.
