Guitar riff. Need I say more?
Most probably. This is, after all, a music review.
So here goes:
I wonder if everyone resonates, at times, with the darker kind of music that comes one's way. Yes, I'm referring to the more metal, hard rock side of melody and vocals, but also that industrial, sparse, guttural world that spans across genres from downtempo, through to classical, and even into pop.
Dead Tooth's "Blind" is serving me a steaming cup of whatever it is I just tried to touch on in the previous paragraph. That thing, that is beyond words, yet if it had to take on color it would definitely be darker shades of reality.
Alright, let me make a quick u-turn before we head too deep into the land of the obscure. Here is frontman Zach James' description of the new "Blind" video which you can watch below:
"I've always been mesmerized by Butoh and interpretive dance so when starting to conceptualize the video I would put Butoh performances on youtube, mute them and let Blind play over it. It looked really cool so I knew I wanted something like it to be the video. I've been a huge fan of Nola's dancing ever since I saw her perform years ago. There was some kind of cathartic crossover through our respective forms of expression and we became good friends. Watching her perform was like seeing a really good band play."
