David Bowie Heroes (Janelle Monae Cover)

Janelle Monae has been in the spotlight for good reason the past few years. She's put out two great albums that have really catapulted her to the top of the pop scene. She's eccentric and artistic, and her musical vision makes her in a class of her own. 

Being that she sticks so much to her own personality, this new cover song comes as a bit of a shock, but in a good way. It's a version of David Bowie's epic song "Heroes" that gets the funk and synthesizer treatment. She puts her stamp on it and makes it her own with her tight electronic instrumentation and angelic vocals.

Good to see her letting down her guard and trying something a bit different.
