George, aka Das Kope, is originally from São Paulo, a vibrant metro area of Brazil. Fueled by an imaginative spirit, he taught himself guitar and bought a ticket to Los Angeles to pursue music. He hit turbulence in California, running low on the money he saved, and living the lifestyle of a broke musician. Eventually, this loneliness brought him the unique gift of creativity that you hear throughout his experimental, DIY songs.
Das Kope's interest in guitar pedals, synthesizers, and vintage-inspired effects helped him discover his niche sound. It vaguely reminds me of the psychedelic, synth heavy indie that was popular in the 2000's. Similar to artists like Animal Collective and Sweet Trip, Das Kope explores a lo-fi, dreamlike soundscape that is hard to replicate.
Besides this track, my favorites by Das Kope are "L.A.X." and "Meet You in the Dark." I highly suggest checking them out, especially as music to listen to while studying or working. That's what I'm doing right now :)
