I might be a bit late to the party on Darius, but I was so impressed by the groove and style radiated by his music that I had to share this one. Though he hasn't put out new music since his 2017 album,Utopia, the French DJ and producer was slated to tour the world this spring. The album itself is eclectic, containing downtempo, ambient music that meshes nicely with some of the groovier, nu-disco tracks.
"Lost in the Moment" is the perfect mixture of those two styles, containing a shiny melody and groovy percussion. I love the dreamy qualities of this track; balmy background vocals, shakers, and those sweeping filters that dive in and out of the track, building tension.
My one qualm with this one is that the kick drum overpowers the bassline somewhat, but I think the goal was to use the kick to fill out the bass, which is an interesting method. Overall, this one is just a really groovy track, and I have definitely felt lost in one big moment recently.
