Why do we like this?
After 3 years, rumours of new material from Sydney-based Dappled Cities have been bubbling around for the last few months. The wait is finally over with the release of "Run With The Wind," the first track from an upcoming follow-up to Zounds - the band's celebrated break-out 2009 album. This album will be their fourth, and definitely the most anticipated after the global success Zounds received.
After touring for almost two years throughout the US and UK, some of the band members have branched out with their own projects, including Tim Derricourt's Swimwear. Over the past year, recording has been carried out throughout the globe, with stops being made in L.A., San Francisco, Paris and Sydney. The band is ready for a new beginning, with their new material rumoured to be their most expressive yet.
"Run With The Wind" is an impressive track. Spaced-out, engaging and typically adventurous, it's the perfect precursor to the album release. Not a band to play it safe, the frantic nature of the music and vocals is beautifully challenging.
With a Australian tour planned and no doubt more releases forthcoming, it's safe to say that 2012 will be another big year for Dappled Cities.
