"This song is dedicated to anyone and everyone who knows addiction, mental illness, homelessness, or all of the above. Use your local resources and together we can make a difference. The stigma stops here."
Disclaimer: There's power behind this one and if you're prone to music-induced tears then brace yourself.
Daphne Willis is originally from Nashville and, as a South African, if there's anything American TV has told me; it's that homies in Nashville can write songs. Willis fits this stereotype in the best way possible.
"Somebody's Someone" is one of those magically organic songs with just vocals, piano and a little bit of texturing from some background vocals. It's moving, it flows incredibly well and Willis' vocals fill the song with power, warmth and dynamic.
Keep an eye out for more from Daphne Willis who will soon be releasing her new full-length album Freaks Like Me.
