Why do we like this?
As far as Australian folk-pop goes, David John Williams' project DANVERS is up there with the finest. A member of the ridiculously talented Adelaide band Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire!, he's just released his latest single "Paper Skin."
Unlike many side projects where artists don't stray too far from their band's regular sound, Williams takes on a completely different guise on his solo work (similar to Manor, another offshoot of F!SRF!). Operating as a mix of folk, jazz and blues, he creates introspective music which showcases his dreamy vocals, changeable guitar and more importantly, his expert arrangement.
Described as a "slow-burning herald of things to come" I'm expecting new material from this brilliant musician soon. Check out his SoundCloud for previous releases.
