Here's one of the best tracks I have heard in a while, wrapped up by a very strange set of circumstances. It seems that Danger Mouse, Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse, and director David Lynch (of all people) got together at SXSW last year, and conceived of an idea for an album to be accompanied by a book of photos taken by Lynch. The album was created with many many other collaborators as well, such as The Flaming Lips, Frank Black, Iggy Pop, and Julian Casablancas.
However, a legal dispute between Danger Mouse and his label EMI kept the album from ever getting a proper release (thus far). Now, as most have sadly heard, Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse has now died, adding another level of strangeness to the project. Nevertheless, I'm in love with the Casablancas-fronted track "Little Girl""“it features great beats and great, great lyrics. You can sample the track here and stream the entire album at NPR - Get Up Stay Down
