Why do we like this?

Scream 2 was a forgettable film, but its soundtrack included an unforgettable instance of modern soul messiah D’Angelo covering Prince’s “She’s Always In My Hair.”

The song presented a convergence of past and present in a beautiful way. Thanks to the curating powers of House Shoes, that moment gets a new millennium upgrade. Ypsilanti’s golden child, 14KT, takes Michael Archer’s a capella and injects it with a deep synthesizer-led groove that feels like a clean old-school on a sunny Sunday morning.
