Why do we like this?
Changing gears a little bit here -- psychedelic rock is a genre we hardly feature for SOTD. But today, I'll make an exception. That's because "Nothing is the News" by Damien Jurado is fantastic.
Reminscent of Ethan Kennedy, Damien's sound features soaring guitar lines and drifting vocals. He's no stranger to the music scene, releasing his first full-length on Sub Pop in 1997. Now on Secretly Canadian, this track has been dropped as the first single off his upcoming album Maraqopa, set to be released some time in 2012.
As I said, this isn't what I'd normally post for a SOTD. It won't rake in tens-of-thousands of hits, but for those with an appreciation of 60s psychedelic rock (a la Ten Years After), this should be quite enjoyable!
