Why do we like this?
Earlier this year, I was immediately smitten after being introduced to the music of a solo artist from the small, Victorian town of Castlemaine. That artist was Oliver Hugh Perry, otherwise known as D.D Dumbo, whose single "Tropical Oceans" was featured on Indie Shuffle back in January. The talented musician has now started building up some serious traction with the release of his debut, self-titled EP a few weeks back.
The EP, which was released by independent label the Blue Rider (who helped launch the Jagwar Ma phenomenon), includes the new single "I Woke Up Covered In Sand." Described as "experimental blues loop pop," he touches on a number of genres when creating his music. Using a 12-string guitar and a plethora of loop pedals, the end product is a wistful, hazy track which I'd immediately refer to lovers of Grizzly Bear.
The D.D Dumbo EP is available for cheap on iTunes -- snap it up now, you'll be smitten in no time too.
