My goodness, this is an impressive track!
Courtesy of Australia's most dedicated shoegaze rock team Cull, "Magi Fuel" is the title single from the band's upcoming second EP. This is a band that Indie Shuffle readers might be familiar with given our extensive coverage of their previous works, and this new single is yet another brilliant release to add to their quickly expanding catalogue.
Cull's music is pretty difficult to pigeon-hole. A lazy reviewer would just stick the Tame Impala tag on it and be done with it, but their music is a different beast. Heavier and much more fantastical in its creation, there's a scope to it unlike most psych/shoegaze bands.
It's epic scale has never been more evident than on "Magi Fuel," a track that changes directions suddenly on more than one occasion, which is typical of Cull. I can imagine the band going off at Woodstock -- that's probably the best description of their music as any.
The band's Magi Fuel EP is due out in the coming months.
