I can't believe I have never heard of this Chino Moreno (Deftones) side project!
For starters, I was raised in the valley of Northern California, where the hardcore rock band Deftones was born. I was addicted to their very first album, Adrenaline, back in 1995, and by now I have pretty much have stayed in tune with everything related to Deftones.
I'm just catching wind that Chino Moreno has spun off some side projects that include Palms, Team Sleep, and Crosses, which I unfortunately hadn't gotten into for one reason or another until today.
The project that caught most of my attention is called " " " (Crosses). Crosses is an Los Angeles-based electronic rock band that is comprised of singer Chino Moreno (obviously) and guitarists Shaun Lopez (Far) and Chuck Doom. They've got two EPs in the books, EP1 and EP2, with their debut album slated for February 2014. They have toured internationally, played at Lollapolooza, and have contributed to the Batman: Arkham City soundtrack.
"The Epilogue" is the first single from the debut album, which is drenched with a dark and euphoric sound. Opening with a raw and stripped-down guitar, the track develops with a groovy base line and layers of atmospheric notes. While I could ramble on and on about how much I effing love what I am hearing from these guys, I will let their music speak for itself.
After this, go listen to a track from their very first EP, called "This Is A Trick." It's a bit more heavy and rugged, and may not be for the faint of heart.
