Something I love about Perth's Crooked Colours is how different each of their tracks sound, yet they've created a distinct energy that connects it all together. I couldn't stop listening to "Capricious" after posting it here in September, and "Another Way" is just as good.
Each layer brings something totally different to the table. The bright, frantic synths are dazzling. That humming loop is eerie and grounding. The seductive melody is low and sensual. As it all comes together, some huge waves lead the beat. It grows a little more syncopated and a lot bluesier, with the full soundscape rounded out by that big bass just crunching down.
It all just works so well. Without that bass, it might have ended up being a tad top-heavy. Without those plinky-plonky synth trickles, it might have sounded a bit lackluster. But each layer plays the perfect part, and the result is divine.
