Today we share with you the debut single from Melbourne four-piece Crepes. Having been in cahoots since high school, they're no strangers to the local scene (a couple of the members play in other bands), but they've returned to the project this year with a bit of a change of direction. "Ain't Horrible is the first release.
This is a single with a lot of slink to it. The hovering guitar and keyboard chords, the murmured vocals, the laid-back percussion -- everything about this track slides in perfectly together. It's got that fun, tongue-in-cheek vibe to it that we've enjoyed from artists like Mac Demarco and Connan Mockasin, but it's a seriously good pop tune at the same time.
"Ain't Horrible" is the first single taken from Crepes' forthcoming debut EP, due for release in 2015.
